July 24th – Arab League welcomes Beijing Declaration as expressed by the AL Assistant Secretary General in an official statement in Cairo.
On Wednesday, the Arab League (AL) expressed its support for the Beijing Declaration aimed at ending internal Palestinian divisions and strengthening national unity.
In an official statement, Saeed Abu Ali, the AL assistant secretary-general for Palestine and occupied Arab territories affairs, lauded China’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause. He highlighted that this support reflects the deep and robust relations between Arab nations and China.
Abu Ali emphasized that the AL acknowledges and appreciates the continuous efforts and initiatives of the Chinese leadership in advocating for Palestinian rights.
He also commended China’s commitment to bolstering the Palestinian people’s rightful and legitimate quest for an independent, sovereign state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with international legal decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Responding to an invitation from China, senior representatives from 14 Palestinian factions engaged in a reconciliation dialogue in Beijing from July 21 to 23, culminating in a declaration focused on ending division and promoting unity.
This gathering marked the first occasion where 14 Palestinian factions convened in Beijing for such a dialogue, offering significant hope to the Palestinian people amid their ongoing struggles.
On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi unveiled a three-step approach proposed by China to address the Palestinian issue.
Highlighting the centrality of the Palestinian issue to the broader Middle East conflict, Wang affirmed that China has no self-serving interests in the matter. He reiterated China’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people in reclaiming their legitimate national rights.
