In the autumn of 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the major initiative of jointly building the “Belt and Road”. The joint construction of the “Belt and Road” has gone through its first decade of prosperity and achieved fruitful results. Embarking on a new journey towards the next golden decade, President Xi Jinping announced China’s eight actions to support high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Chinese and foreign guests attending the meeting said that over the past decade, the Belt and Road Initiative has inherited and carried forward the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutual benefit, and adhered to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, openness, greenness, integrity, high standards and benefits. People’s livelihood is sustainable and solid and substantial results have been achieved. The “Belt and Road” has become the road to peace, prosperity, openness, green, innovation and civilization.
In addition to the main forum, the forum also set up the international communication “Silk Road Award” award ceremony and the “Belt and Road” regional cooperation sub-forum. A total of more than 130 foreign media leaders and senior editors and reporters from more than 110 media outlets in 75 “Belt and Road” countries participated in the forum. Responsible comrades from relevant ministries and commissions of the central government and state agencies, responsible comrades from major central media outlets, experts and scholars, and heads of some state-owned enterprises and private enterprises participating in the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” participated in the forum.
The “Belt and Road” Media Cooperation Forum is hosted by the People’s Daily and has been held for seven times since 2014. The 7th “Belt and Road” Media Cooperation Forum has attracted more than 1,000 representatives from media, think tanks and international organizations from more than 100 countries and regions to build a high-end media dialogue and cooperation platform for the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”. The “Belt and Road” News Cooperation Alliance, covering 238 media and institutions in 109 countries, has become an important media cooperation platform for countries building the “Belt and Road”. It has expanded its membership, deepened business cooperation, expanded dialogue mechanisms, and innovative brand projects. Important cooperation results were achieved.
