In celebration of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 10th anniversary of the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the All Pakistan-China Friendship Association (APCFA) collaborated with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to organize the Pakistan-China Friendship Festival in Islamabad on Monday.
The festival featured a variety of activities, including Chinese calligraphy classes, culinary training sessions, calligraphy workshops, musical band performances, and stalls showcasing traditional items from both countries to promote bilateral cultural exchange.
H.E Zhang Heqing, the Cultural Counselor and Director of the China Cultural Center in Pakistan, served as the chief guest for the event. In his address, he emphasized the rich histories of both China and Pakistan and the shared characteristic of having significant populations. He praised the role of youth in the development of both nations and encouraged them to excel in their studies and become ambassadors of China-Pakistan friendship.
He also highlighted China’s remarkable progress over the past 74 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), mentioning achievements like poverty alleviation, the establishment of extensive education and healthcare systems, and strong economic growth.
Zhang Heqing pointed out the transformative impact of China’s reform and opening-up policy, which not only reshaped China but also created opportunities for the world. He expressed confidence in China’s ongoing journey towards rejuvenation and modernization.
Students from various schools, including Super Nova School, West Minister School and Academy, Islamabad College of Arts and Sciences, and Iqra University, enthusiastically participated in the festival. They engaged in Chinese language classes, learned Jiaozi making in a culinary session, and explored the art of Chinese calligraphy. A musical band added to the festive atmosphere, and stalls showcased cultural items from both China and Pakistan, fostering cultural exchange and strengthening the friendship between these two steadfast allies.
Overall, the event celebrated the anniversaries of the People’s Republic of China and CPEC/BRI while promoting cultural ties and friendship between the two nations.
