ISLAMABAD, May 23 -The training of the Smart Classroom Project─ an educational program under the umbrella of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)─ was held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad on Monday.
The purpose of this China-funded project is to equip teachers with the necessary skills to utilize technology in the classroom and enhance students’ learning process through training. “This initiative is a promising step towards smart education in Pakistan,” stated the All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA).
The Smart Classroom project, initiated under CPEC, focuses on transforming the conventional pedagogical methods to contemporary approaches using information and communication technologies.
With China’s support, approximately 100 smart classrooms are being built in 50 universities across Pakistan. For instance, two such classrooms have been established at Allama Iqbal Open University, one on the main campus and the other at the regional campus in Multan. Smart classrooms are injecting new life into Pakistan’s educational system by offering offline and online classes with enhanced interactions between students and teachers.
Thanks to advanced Chinese communication technology, students from remote areas can now connect with teachers who live far away from them. The Smart Classrooms project was initiated in September 2021 and is currently flourishing in the country.
