The 9th China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Media Forum was held in a hybrid format in Islamabad and Beijing on December 24, with the theme “Strengthen Media Cooperation, Advance the Construction of Upgraded Version 2.0 of CPEC.” Hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and co-organized by China Economic Net and Pakistan-China Institute, the forum emphasized enhancing media collaboration and promoting the success of CPEC projects.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, highlighted the importance of China-Pakistan friendship and proposed a joint fact-checking forum to counter disinformation. Chinese and Pakistani officials, including Zheng Qingdong, Shezra Mansab Ali Kharal, and Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, stressed that media plays a crucial role in creating public awareness, fostering cooperation, and supporting the upgraded CPEC Version 2.0. The discussions focused on collaboration in reporting, youth exchanges, think tank partnerships, and effective communication strategies.
About 200 high-level officials, media representatives, and think tank professionals from both countries participated. The forum concluded with a shared commitment to deepen bilateral media cooperation, strengthen public opinion foundations, and highlight the achievements of CPEC. Since its inception in 2015, the CPEC Media Forum has become a key platform for China-Pakistan media engagement and mutual understanding.
