40 civilians and 11 armed forces personnel martyred in Indian attack against Pakistan.
At least 11 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and 78 others injured while defending the country from what the military described as India’s “unprovoked and disgraceful” attacks during the recent conflict, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday.
The military confrontation began after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack. In retaliation, India launched a series of airstrikes under “Operation Sindoor” on the night of May 6-7, resulting in civilian casualties. This was followed by a week-long exchange of missiles between the two sides, which eventually ceased due to U.S. diplomatic intervention.
On Saturday, with the situation nearing a full-scale war, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that both countries had agreed to a ceasefire.
According to ISPR, Indian aggression led to the deaths of 40 civilians in Pakistan, including seven women and 15 children, and left 121 people wounded.
The statement listed the names of the Pakistan Army martyrs as Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, and Sepoy Nisar.
From the Pakistan Air Force, the martyrs included Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, and Senior Technician Mubashir.
ISPR highlighted that the Pakistan Armed Forces launched a firm counteroffensive through “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos,” carried out under the campaign “Marka-i-Haq,” delivering accurate and effective retaliatory strikes.
The military further stated that the sacrifices made by the martyrs stand as lasting symbols of bravery, loyalty, and national pride. It warned that any future attempt to threaten Pakistan’s territorial integrity will meet with a swift and comprehensive response.
ISPR also paid tribute to the fallen civilians and soldiers, offering prayers for the recovery of those injured in the conflict.
Reiterating its firm stance, the military assured that Pakistan remains resolute and determined in the face of any aggression.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that May 10 will be observed annually as “Youm-e-Marka-i-Haq” to commemorate the successful outcome of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. He also declared that Friday, May 16, 2025, will be dedicated to honoring the armed forces and offering national gratitude.
