Thirty-one students from Punjab have departed for China under the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab’s Dual Diploma Programme, a joint initiative with the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SIIT) aimed at enhancing technical education and fostering Pakistan–China academic collaboration.
According to a report by Gwadar Pro, this group forms part of the second batch of 70 students selected for the three-year programme. Out of these, 20 students are pursuing a Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Software Technology at the Government College of Technology (GCT) PGA Lahore, while 11 students are enrolled in Advanced Construction Technology at GCT, Taxila.
The Dual Diploma Programme follows a 2+1 model, comprising two years of study in Pakistan and one academic year in China, covering four key disciplines: Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Textile Technology, and Advanced Construction Technology.
The first batch of students recently returned after completing their final academic year in China, marking the programme’s success in providing global exposure, industrial training, and skill-based education aligned with international standards.
A TEVTA spokesperson stated that the initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to developing a technically skilled workforce capable of meeting global industry demands while strengthening people-to-people and educational ties between Pakistan and China under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.
