110,000th China-Europe freight train exits China as it signifies a major milestone in regional connectivity and trade relations.

On Thursday, the 110,000th China-Europe freight train passed through Erenhot Port in northern Inner Mongolia, the largest land crossing on the China-Mongolia border.

Departing from Qingdao in Shandong Province on Tuesday, the train was loaded with 55 containers of home appliances worth nearly 20 million yuan (around 2.79 million USD), marking a key milestone in the advanced growth of the China-Europe freight train network.

According to port authorities, the train is expected to arrive in Moscow, Russia, in approximately two weeks.

Erenhot Port, the only entry and exit point on the central corridor of the China-Europe freight route, currently operates 73 freight train lines, linking China to over 70 logistics hubs in more than 10 countries and regions, including Germany, Poland, and Russia.

Since 2013, the port has handled over 19,000 China-Europe freight trains. In the first five months of this year alone, it processed 1,489 inbound and outbound trains, transporting nearly 1.9 million tonnes or 168,800 TEUs of goods—reflecting year-on-year increases of 5.3%, 8.2%, and 4.9%, respectively.

Cui Xuesong, deputy manager of a logistics park located over 300 kilometers from the port, shared that the regular operation of the freight trains has cut delivery time to Europe from 45 days to 15, and reduced logistics costs by about 600 yuan per tonne, providing a strong foundation for the local agricultural industry’s growth.
