Xi’an freight trains to Europe reach 2,000 in 2025 showcasing increasing regional connectivity.

The historic city of Xi’an in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province had successfully operated over 2,000 China-Europe freight trains in 2025.

At 10:00 AM last Tuesday, a freight train carrying vehicles, machine parts, and home appliances departed from Xi’an International Port Station en route to Dangara, Tajikistan, marking the 2,000th such train dispatched this year.

Liu Shunli, head of operations at Xi’an International Port Station under the China Railway Xi’an Group, said the city’s freight services have seen robust growth in 2025, accounting for nearly a quarter of the national volume and consistently leading in key performance indicators.

According to China State Railway Group, Xi’an dispatched 1,519 freight trains to Europe in the first quarter alone, reflecting a 45% year-on-year increase.
