President Xi urges continued efforts to build a stronger China and presented his vision for China’s growth in coming years.
Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of maintaining strategic resolve and unity to overcome obstacles in building a strong nation. His remarks were made during a gathering hosted by China’s top political advisory body to welcome the new year.
Xi, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, acknowledged that China’s path to modernization would face not only smooth progress but also significant challenges. He stressed the need for continued resolve and collective strength to confront difficulties and advance with determination.
In 2024, despite both domestic and international challenges, China remained composed and took comprehensive actions, achieving its major economic and social development goals for the year, Xi noted.
Xi highlighted that the country’s development in 2024 was marked by significant progress, reinforcing China’s commitment and confidence in advancing its modernization efforts.
Looking ahead to 2025, the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Xi outlined plans to adopt more proactive macro policies to promote sustained economic recovery, improve living standards, and maintain social harmony and stability.
Xi also emphasized the need for high-quality implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan to ensure a strong foundation for the successful start of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
