President Xi Jinping urges China, Vietnam to jointly move towards modernization as he is on an official visit to Vietnam.

On Monday, during his meeting with Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, Xi stressed that both nations should work to bring more stability and positive momentum to the global community.

Xi noted that his state visit to Vietnam allowed him to witness firsthand the new milestones achieved through Vietnam’s Doi Moi reforms, reaffirming the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries.

He pointed out that while China is advancing its modernization and national rejuvenation efforts, Vietnam is on the brink of entering a new era of development, highlighting that both nations are at pivotal stages of growth.

Facing a turbulent international environment, Xi called for China and Vietnam to bolster their confidence in their unique development models, enhance mutual solidarity, and work jointly towards building a strategically significant community with a shared future, thereby contributing to global stability. He emphasized that since both nations are socialist states led by communist parties, maintaining the proper political direction is crucial for the success of their respective agendas.

Xi recommended that the top leaders of the two countries engage in timely exchanges on bilateral relations and other key issues, build consensus, and strengthen trust to ensure steady progress in Sino-Vietnamese relations.

He also stressed the need to continue robust exchanges and cooperation among the parties, legislative bodies, and political consultative organizations by sharing governance experiences.

Taking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges as a milestone, Xi urged the two sides to promote their revolutionary heritage and leverage their collective historical resources to enhance mutual understanding and lasting friendship—especially among younger generations.

Recognizing the fruitful exchanges between China’s National People’s Congress and Vietnam’s National Assembly, Xi called for even stronger legislative collaboration to maintain traditional bonds, ensure practical cooperation, and further develop socialist democracy and the rule of law, thereby enriching the China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Tran Thanh Man, for his part, remarked that the longstanding friendship between Vietnam and China—characterized by “camaraderie and brotherhood” fostered by successive leaders, remains strong and sincere.

He noted that Xi’s visit, as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, underscores the high priority placed by the CPC, the Chinese government, and the people on strengthening Vietnam-China ties.

Man added that both nations’ top leaders have offered vital strategic guidance for building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future, a move that is poised to open a new chapter in their bilateral relations.

The Vietnamese National Assembly expressed its congratulations to China for the successful convening of its Two Sessions and affirmed its commitment to deepening communication and cooperation with China’s National People’s Congress, with the goal of achieving shared prosperity and further strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
