Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mozambican President Daniel Chapo exchanged messages of congratulations on Wednesday to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their two countries.
President Xi highlighted that over the past five decades, China and Mozambique have maintained mutual trust and support, with their bilateral friendship remaining firm despite global changes.
He expressed confidence that the relationship will continue to grow stronger if both nations uphold the founding spirit of their diplomatic ties and continue to advance together.
Xi emphasized his commitment to further strengthening China-Mozambique relations, stating his readiness to collaborate with President Chapo to build on their longstanding friendship. He proposed leveraging the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to deepen practical collaboration and elevate their comprehensive strategic partnership.
President Chapo, in turn, noted the symbolic significance of the anniversary as it aligns with Mozambique’s 50 years of independence, underlining the deep-rooted friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
He thanked China for its unwavering support during Mozambique’s liberation struggle and reaffirmed Mozambique’s adherence to the one-China principle, along with its support for China’s efforts toward national reunification and its global initiatives.
