President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Xi Jinping pointed out, during the past 70 years since the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic ties, no matter how the international situation may change, the two sides have always stood side by side in weal and woe.
China and Pakistan have worked together to tackle risks and challenges such as COVID-19, consolidating strategic mutual trust and deepening strategic cooperation.
History has fully proved that the two countries are the most reliable iron-clad brothers for each other. The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, with more sources of turbulence and risks around the world.
Under the new circumstances, the two countries should stand together even more firmly and push forward the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, and build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Xi Jinping stressed, China supports Pakistan in exploring a development path suited to its own national conditions and is willing to share China’s high-quality development opportunities with Pakistan.
The two sides should maintain close strategic communication, further synergize development strategies and enhance the exchange of governance experience.
China will continue to support Pakistan in its fight against COVID-19, jointly build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with high quality and strengthen cooperation in such fields as agriculture, digital economy and people’s livelihood. We will continue to unleash the positive effects of the corridor in promoting growth and improving people’s wellbeing.
The two sides should strengthen counter-terrorism and security cooperation. China is ready to work with Pakistan to enhance multilateral coordination, practice true multilateralism and promote international fairness and justice, so as to safeguard the common interests of the two countries and maintain world peace and stability.
Imran Khan said, I extend congratulations again on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties, and congratulate China on successfully holding the events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the restoration of New China’s lawful seat in the United Nations. I totally agree with President Xi Jinping’s views.
The world is faced with many major issues that require Pakistan and China to communicate closely and work together. Pakistan-China relations have withstood all tests and the two countries always support each other in both good and bad times.
China has supported Pakistan in its fight against COVID-19, and protected the life and safety of the Pakistani people, setting an example of a big country selflessly helping a small country. Pakistan staunchly pursues the one-China policy, firmly supports China’s stance on issues concerning China’s core interests such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and human rights, and firmly backs the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping.
Pakistan stands ready to work with China to promote the building of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and practical cooperation in various areas. The Pakistani side attaches great importance to and will continue to take concrete measures to effectively protect the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan.
Both sides also exchanged views on the Afghan issue and others.
