Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, sent a New Year card on Wednesday to teachers and students from middle schools in Washington State, USA, conveying their New Year greetings.
In the card, Xi and Peng highlighted that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
They emphasized that during World War II, China and the United States collaborated to uphold peace and justice, forging a friendship that has endured the trials of war and continues to grow stronger.
The couple expressed their hope that young people from both nations will actively participate in China’s initiative to invite 50,000 American youth for exchanges and study programs over five years. They encouraged these exchanges to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen traditional bonds, and promote the development of China-U.S. relations and global peace.
Earlier, the U.S.-China Youth and Student Exchange Association, along with teachers and students from Lincoln High School and Stadium High School who had visited China through the initiative, sent a New Year card to Xi, Peng, and the Chinese people.
Over 100 teachers and students signed the card, writing in Chinese to extend their New Year wishes and express a desire for lasting friendship between China and the United States.
