Chinese President Xi extends congratulations to 34th Arab League Summit as it is being held in Baghdad in Iraq.
On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, who is currently serving as the rotating chair of the Arab League Council, to commend the successful hosting of the 34th Arab League Summit in Baghdad.
Xi emphasized that since its inception 80 years ago, the Arab League has consistently worked to foster unity and self-reliance among Arab nations, voicing their collective interests and promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
He acknowledged that the world today is experiencing profound and unprecedented changes, and that the Middle East is facing increasingly complex and evolving dynamics.
According to Xi, Arab nations have actively contributed to elevating the Global South’s influence by upholding sovereignty, driving development and renewal, and standing for justice and fairness.
He highlighted the recent robust growth in China-Arab relations, describing it as a model of solidarity and cooperation among developing nations.
Xi recalled the consensus reached with Arab leaders during the inaugural China-Arab States Summit in December 2022 to build a shared future. He expressed hope that the second summit, scheduled for 2026 in China, would mark another important chapter in bilateral relations.
Reaffirming China and Arab countries’ strategic and long-term approach to their partnership, Xi pledged China’s continued support as a dependable ally in backing the legitimate causes of Arab nations.
President Xi concluded by expressing China’s readiness to work with Arab states to strengthen political trust, promote win-win cooperation, enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and jointly pursue modernization to build a higher-level China-Arab community with a shared future.
