Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his inauguration as the president of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on Monday.
Xi emphasized the longstanding friendship between China and Sri Lanka, noting that since establishing diplomatic relations 67 years ago, both nations have consistently supported one another, exemplifying successful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of various sizes.
He expressed his appreciation for the development of China-Sri Lanka relations and indicated his willingness to collaborate with President Dissanayake to strengthen their traditional friendship and enhance political trust.
Additionally, Xi committed to partnering with the Sri Lankan president to advance high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and to ensure the ongoing progress of the China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership, characterized by sincere mutual assistance and lasting friendship, ultimately benefiting both nations’ citizens.
