Xi calls for efforts to promote China-Vietnam community with shared future fostering a strategic partnership between both countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Luong Cuong, a senior member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), in Beijing, emphasizing the importance of communist party leadership and socialism as the foundation for China-Vietnam relations. Xi highlighted Vietnam as a priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy and expressed China’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and fostering a strategic China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Xi noted that in a rapidly changing world, China and Vietnam should maintain a strong political alignment, viewing their relationship from a strategic perspective to ensure steady development. He urged both countries to strengthen exchanges in governance and enhance communication through institutionalized platforms like theoretical discussions and cadre training, while working together to align development strategies.
People-to-people ties
On enhancing people-to-people ties, Xi suggested leveraging the upcoming 75th anniversary of China-Vietnam relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to promote the long-standing friendship between the nations. Moreover, he called for improving public opinion guidance to strengthen public support for future bilateral relations.
Xi also mentioned that China’s deepening reforms and opening up will create new development opportunities for Vietnam. He further expressed confidence that, under Vietnam’s leadership, the country would achieve its national goals and continue its modernization efforts, with China ready to be a supportive partner in this journey.
Additionally, Luong Cuong reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to its strategic partnership with China, stating that cooperation with China is a priority in Vietnam’s diplomacy. He emphasized Vietnam’s willingness to work closely with China to implement agreements reached by the two leaders, strengthen party and state relations, manage differences, and achieve new progress in their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and joint efforts to build a community with a shared future.
