Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged China and India to explore meaningful measures to enhance mutual understanding and support during his meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Beijing on Monday. Wang emphasized that the two nations should avoid suspicion, estrangement, and fatigue in their relations, suggesting that these negative dynamics would hinder progress.
Wang further noted that improving China-India relations aligns with the core interests of both countries and their people, and benefits the Global South. He emphasized that strengthening bilateral ties would contribute positively to peace, stability, and prosperity in Asia and globally.
In response, Misri acknowledged that both countries have engaged in productive dialogues, managed differences effectively, and resumed practical cooperation in various areas. He expressed India’s willingness to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties with China and pledged full support for China’s leadership role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
