Wang Yi calls for stronger China, Russia cooperation within BRICS as he met with Russian counterpart in Brazil.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized on Monday that China and Russia, as founding members of BRICS, should enhance coordination within the group and work to strengthen unity and collaboration among developing nations and emerging economies.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these comments during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
He noted that China and Russia should jointly strive to implement the key agreements made by their respective heads of state and achieve concrete progress across multiple areas of cooperation.
Lavrov, in response, expressed Russia’s readiness to collaborate closely with China in organizing events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War and China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, while also deepening cooperation in various sectors.
