Three police officers martyred in targeted attacks in separate incidents according to police reports.
Three police officials were martyred in separate gun attacks in Lower South Waziristan, Hangu, and Lakki Marwat districts on Tuesday, according to police sources.
In Lower South Waziristan, District Police Officer Asif Bahadur stated that armed assailants targeted Muharir Imran Wazir near Tora Gola in Azam Warsak as he was heading home on leave from Wana Police Lines. Authorities have launched an investigation and are working to apprehend those responsible.
Meanwhile, in Hangu, an officer from the district security branch was martyred when unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle attacked him on Darwazai Palosa Road. The deceased, identified as Maqbool Akbar from Charsadda district, was ambushed by two armed motorcyclists who fled after the attack. A search operation has been initiated to track them down.
The funeral prayers for the slain officer were held at Hangu Police Lines, attended by senior police officials, including Regional Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat, District Police Officer Mohammad Khalid, and Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman, along with political and social dignitaries. Officers paid tribute by laying floral wreaths on the coffin and praying for the martyr’s soul. According to a police official, the officer was on his way to duty when he was attacked.
In another incident, a police officer was martyred, and another sustained injuries in a terrorist attack in Miralam Manjiwala, Lakki Marwat, on Tuesday night.
An official, citing preliminary reports, said that the two officers, identified as Ihsanullah and Rafiullah, suffered critical gunshot wounds in the attack, which took place within the jurisdiction of the city police station. The injured officers were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang, where Ihsanullah succumbed to his injuries. Both officers were residents of Miralam Manjiwala.
The attackers managed to escape, but a heavy police contingent arrived at the scene and launched a search operation to apprehend them.
