The Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, home to the famous Terracotta Warriors in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, will extend its opening hours and increase ticket availability to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors during the Spring Festival holiday.
From January 29 to February 3, the museum will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., adding 90 minutes to its daily schedule. It will also raise its daily ticket limit by 10,000, allowing up to 75,000 visitors per day, according to museum officials.
Other museums in Xi’an, such as the Shaanxi History Museum and Xi’an Beilin Museum, have similarly announced extended hours for the holiday period.
The Spring Festival, China’s most significant traditional holiday, falls on January 29 this year, with a public holiday spanning January 28 to February 4. Millions of travelers are expected to visit cultural landmarks and celebrate with family during this festive time.
As one of China’s most historically rich cities, Xi’an boasts over 3,100 years of history and has served as the capital for 13 ancient dynasties. It is home to renowned attractions, including the Terracotta Warriors, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, and the Bell Tower.
By extending operational hours and increasing ticket quotas, the museums aim to provide greater access to their cultural treasures, allowing visitors from China and abroad to delve into the ancient capital’s history during the festive season.
