The Hong Ting Forum, themed “Understanding China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and Chinese-style Modernization Development Path,” was held in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.
The symposium, co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), gathered around 100 participants, including diplomats, scholars, and media representatives. During the event, Shi Yuanqiang, minister of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, expressed China’s readiness to share development opportunities with the global community, emphasizing the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Pakistan as all-weather strategic partners.
Addresses by the Dignitaries
Former Pakistani Ambassador to China, Masood Khalid, highlighted the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, which adopted a strategic blueprint for Chinese-style modernization. He emphasized Pakistan’s deep value for its enduring relationship with China, stating that Pakistan should learn from China’s modernization model to pursue self-reliance and regional development.
Mudassar Iqbal, deputy director of Associated Press of Pakistan, noted that China’s modernization approach benefits not only its citizens but also global development. He reiterated that the “ironclad” friendship between Pakistan and China ensures their shared future and strong ties.
Further, Hassan Daud Butt, senior advisor at the China Study Center of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, urged Pakistan to maximize opportunities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to enhance cooperation with China in areas like industry, agriculture, science and technology, digital economy, green energy, and technological innovation.
Moreover, Khalid Mahmood, chairman of the ISSI Board of Governors, called on the media and think tanks of both countries to strengthen efforts in deepening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
