ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has declared China Yunnan Sunny Road & Bridge Corporation (CYSRBC) as the most advantageous bidder for the Engineering Procurement of the China-AID Project for the rehabilitation of Pakistan Highway N-5.
N-5 is a significant highway in Pakistan that stretches between Karachi, Sindh, and Torkham town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The project focuses on the section of N-5 between Hala (Matiari district) and Moro (Naushahro Feroze district) in Sindh.
In December 2020, China and Pakistan signed an agreement worth RMB 659.8 million to provide grant assistance for the rehabilitation of this section of N-5, aiming to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity. The project covers a total of 66 kilometers between Hala and Moro.
N-5 is an important road with high traffic capacity. It suffered severe damage during the devastating floods in 2010. From 2011 to 2016, China assisted in the repair of other sections of N-5 and N-55 as well.
