Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh’s Minister for Information, stated that the provincial government is making aggressive efforts to drive economic growth, including a large construction project in Karachi, aimed at drawing foreign investors and Pakistanis living abroad.

At the 18th Build Asia International Conference and Exhibition held at the Expo Centre, Memon emphasized that the large construction project would generate significant employment opportunities for skilled and educated individuals across Sindh.

Memon revealed that the Sindh government is negotiating with China to establish a bus assembly plant and is also considering launching an electric taxi service and importing 100 more buses to address the urgent public transportation needs.

He added that the Sindh government, in partnership with the federal government, is focused on fostering a favorable business climate and ensuring comprehensive security for foreign investors to rebuild their trust.

Memon noted that the provincial government has engaged with senior Chinese business delegations to facilitate their involvement in projects at the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, which is a key component of CPEC.

He highlighted that the Sindh government is collaborating with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to draw both local and foreign investments to Karachi, emphasizing that the city is the ideal business destination.

Memon commended the newly introduced easy visa policy for foreign nationals and urged the government to reconsider its policies to make Pakistan a more appealing destination for both living and investment.

He further mentioned that the provincial government is dedicated to supporting both local and international entrepreneurs and is encouraging them to start economic activities, such as trade fairs that attract foreign participants.

Memon noted that the involvement of foreign delegates in the construction exhibition is a positive development, in line with the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen investor confidence.

Farhan Anis, Vice President of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan, observed that the construction industry is progressing quickly, incorporating new innovations and technological advancements to enhance the quality of living and working conditions.

The Build Asia Conference and Exhibition, the premier event for the construction industry, connects key stakeholders and showcases innovative concepts for eco-friendly and sustainable construction practices.

The three-day event is focused on the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the construction field and includes exhibitors from 10 different countries, with over 35,000 visitors expected from 42 related sectors, including aluminum, cement, and transport.

Additionally, the event features seminars on real estate investment, financing trends in Pakistan, and a regional forum addressing tourism, hospitality, and real estate.
