Shenzhou-19 astronauts enter space station to meet the other team of three astronauts and complete assigned tasks.
The three astronauts of China’s Shenzhou-19 mission have successfully entered the Tiangong space station, joining another team of three astronauts on Wednesday to initiate the latest in-orbit crew handover.
At 12:51 p.m. (Beijing Time), the Shenzhou-18 crew opened the hatch and welcomed the newcomers, as reported by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).
Together, the six astronauts took group photos, marking the fifth such space gathering in China’s aerospace history.
The two teams will spend around five days living and working together to accomplish assigned tasks and carry out the handover process, CMSA stated.
The Shenzhou-18 team is expected to land at the Dongfeng site in northern China on November 4.
