The launch ceremony for the 10th Shanghai International Nature Conservation Festival took place at the Grand Neobay International Convention Center in Minhang district on Oct 19.
The event, themed “Science and Technology Enable a Beautiful China, and Innovation Leads Green Development,” has been organized with a variety of activities aimed at encouraging public participation and allowing people to experience the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
A key highlight this year is the involvement of actors like Hu Ge and Chen Long as advocates for sustainable living. They will promote environmental conservation practices, such as saving water and electricity, green consumption, waste sorting and disposal, and recycling resources.
Huang Hong, the director of the organizing committee, emphasized that the festival is a globally influential public welfare event with significant citizen engagement. Furthermore, it has drawn top experts and industries to participate, with over 100 million people involved, greatly raising public awareness about environmental protection and promoting a green lifestyle.
Throughout the week, Shanghai will also host nine themed activities to build momentum for the festival. These include expert lectures on new productive forces for green development, youth activities encouraging children to observe and document nature, as well as themed photography and film exhibitions that advocate for the protection of birds and other endangered species in China.
