The Rawalpindi police have issued a traffic plan for the city from October 14 till 16 on account of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad.
Pakistan is all set to host meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Islamabad on Oct 15 and 16.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the meeting. The SCO member states will be represented by Prime Minister of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as the First Vice President of Iran and External Affairs Minister of India.
Due to movement of foreign dignitaries, the Rawalpindi police has shared the traffic plan on social media so citizens can avoid inconvenience.
Following is the traffic diversion plan from Oct 14 to 16
- Traffic from Annexe Chowk towards Amar Chowk will be diverted to Jhanda Road (Jhanda Turn) and Rashid Minhas Road.
- Traffic from Mushtaq Baig Shaheed Road towards Airport Road will be diverted from Annexe Chowk towards Kachehri Chowk.
- Traffic from Kachehri Chowk towards Airport Road will be diverted towards Rashid Minhas Road and Mureer Chowk.
- Traffic from Mall Road towards Kachehri Chowk will be diverted from Shalimar Chowk via Sarwar Road, Punjab Street, and towards Rashid Minhas Road.
- Rawalpindi police said no traffic will be blocked from using Chohan Chowk towards Airport Road during the movement of officials.
- Traffic moving towards Coral Chowk will be diverted from Chohan Chowk via Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, and towards Murree Road.
- Traffic from Jhanda Turn towards Amar Chowk will be diverted from Amar Chowk towards Scheme 3 or Kachehri Chowk.
- Traffic from Amar Chowk towards Chohan Chowk will be diverted from Agha Za Flyover, Rahim Abad towards Rahim Abad.
- Heavy traffic will not be allowed to exit the motorway during this time.
Authorities said 622 traffic officers and personnel will perform duties during SCO summit.
