During his stay, President Zardari is scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior Chinese officials.
Discussions between the two sides will revolve around areas of shared interest, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), regional connectivity, and security collaboration.
As a special guest of the Chinese government, President Zardari will also participate in the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, located in Heilongjiang province.
The visit holds significant importance in further strengthening the long-standing Pakistan-China relationship, with a particular emphasis on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Pakistan has emphasized that this visit continues the tradition of high-level exchanges between the two nations, demonstrating their strong commitment to deepening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, as reported by The News.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit reaffirms mutual support on critical national interests, fosters economic and trade collaboration, particularly within the framework of CPEC, and underscores the shared commitment of both nations to regional peace, development, and stability.
It is anticipated that the visit will reinforce agreements on major economic and security matters, reaffirming Pakistan’s close ties with its biggest trade and investment partner. This trip comes at a crucial juncture as Pakistan seeks to rejuvenate its economy and bolster regional connectivity through CPEC.
Additionally, several CPEC-related projects have faced delays due to financial constraints. However, officials remain hopeful that new agreements could be reached during the visit, further strengthening economic cooperation and addressing regional security concerns.
