On Saturday, President Asif Ali Zardari called for Eastern nations to collaborate under China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI) to achieve sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
He highlighted GDI’s potential to shape global future through shared development, urging developing countries to take a leading role in this global effort.
President Zardari made these remarks during his virtual address at the 2nd High-level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, organized by CIDCA in Beijing, according to a press release from the President Secretariat Press Wing. The event was attended by representatives from foreign countries, international organizations, foreign companies, and NGOs.
He stressed the importance of addressing global challenges such as progress, development, and health from an Eastern perspective, given that a significant portion of the world’s population resides in the Eastern hemisphere, including China, Pakistan, and neighboring nations.
President Zardari expressed Pakistan’s support for President Xi Jinping and China’s leadership in driving the GDI forward, positioning the East to lead global development efforts into the future.
China’s GDI aims to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and resolve global development challenges.
