Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the World Conference on China Studies – Shanghai Forum, emphasizing that China studies encompass not only historical aspects but also contemporary perspectives.
President Xi highlighted the rich history of Chinese civilization, shaped through exchanges and mutual learning with other global civilizations. This historical backdrop, he noted, has endowed Chinese modernization with profound cultural heritage. Xi emphasized the importance of understanding the world’s reality by tracing historical origins and identifying present-day China through its cultural foundation.
In his letter, President Xi expressed the view that mutual learning between civilizations is essential for common progress, urging experts and scholars from various countries to serve as messengers connecting Chinese and foreign civilizations. He called for upholding inclusiveness and openness, continuously promoting China studies on a global scale, fostering mutual exchange of civilizations, and injecting intellectual and cultural strength into the flourishing garden of world civilizations.
The conference, themed “Chinese Civilization and China’s Path – A Global Perspective,” commenced in Shanghai and is co-hosted by the State Council Information Office and the Shanghai municipal government. President Xi’s letter reflects a commitment to fostering international collaboration in the realm of China studies and promoting cultural exchange on a global stage.
