Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their strong partnership for mutual benefit and the well-being of their people. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with Beijing during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 3rd Belt and Road Forum.
President Xi expressed China’s readiness to deepen the traditional friendship and enhance the bilateral partnership with Pakistan. He also reiterated China’s dedication to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and regional peace.
PM Kakar described the bilateral partnership as “made in heaven” and emphasized Pakistan’s trust in China, asserting that nothing would undermine this strategic relationship. He underlined Pakistan’s support for the ‘One-China Policy’ and stressed that the eight proposals put forth by President Xi at the forum provided a roadmap for both physical connectivity and stabilizing the international order. The Belt and Road Initiative was seen as a practical response to global challenges.
PM Kakar discussed the various facets of the Pakistan-China relationship during the meeting, highlighting the importance of regional connectivity and economic development. President Xi confirmed China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development, and accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan.
In a separate meeting with Chinese corporate executives, PM Kakar encouraged them to explore Pakistan’s significant investment potential in sectors such as ICT, agriculture, renewable energy, textile, the digital economy, and mining. He outlined Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and the establishment of a Special Investment Facilitation Council to facilitate foreign investment.
The strong and cooperative relationship between Pakistan and China continues to be a focal point in their diplomatic efforts, as both countries work together to advance regional connectivity and economic development.
