PM Shehbaz visits Kamra airbase to honor PAF fighters praising their professionalism during the intense air combat with India.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan is open to dialogue with India, but only if discussions focus on the Kashmir dispute and granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
During a special address to Pakistan Air Force personnel at Kamra air base, the prime minister emphasized that peace talks must be centered on Kashmir.
He reiterated that India should engage in dialogue on Kashmir and allow the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination in line with UN Security Council resolutions. The PM affirmed that the Kashmir freedom struggle continues and rejected accusations against Pakistan over the Pahalgam incident.
He criticized India for opting for aggression rather than allowing an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, which Pakistan has consistently called for.
The prime minister visited the Kamra base to commend the PAF for their role in successfully defending the country and securing air superiority during a prolonged confrontation with India. He praised the bravery and swift action of PAF pilots, who effectively countered Indian aggression and dismantled their illusion of air dominance.
The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, along with other senior civil and military officials.
Shehbaz Sharif recounted that from May 6 to 10, Pakistan’s military response surprised the world and disrupted India’s offensive strategy. The prime minister highlighted that Pakistan’s counteraction boosted international confidence in the country, especially among its allies.
He hailed the military victory as historic, shifting regional dynamics and global perceptions about Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistanis were proud of their armed forces, whose performance brought honor and prestige to the nation. He warned adversaries to avoid miscalculations regarding Pakistan’s strength and resolve.
He also congratulated the military leadership for the exemplary performance of the armed forces. He stated that Pakistan’s success in the war was due to its homegrown technology and professional competence. The prime minister revealed that six enemy aircraft were downed, despite India’s larger military and its extensive arms purchases.
He said the armed forces shattered India’s pride and, within hours, changed the course of regional history through valor and strategic brilliance. Shehbaz Sharif concluded that the Pakistani flag now commands global respect due to the armed forces’ heroism and resilience.
