PCFH achieves milestone by introducing Endourology in its Urology department depicting advancement in healthcare services in the city.
The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital has reached a major milestone by introducing Endourology in its Urology department for the first time. This cutting-edge medical procedure, which involves minimally invasive surgery using a camera, represents a significant advancement in healthcare services under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, ensuring modern treatment options for patients in Gwadar.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the hospital successfully conducted its first Optical Internal Urethrotomy (OIU) surgery under the supervision of urologist Dr. Zafar Ullah Baloch. This achievement not only strengthens the hospital’s medical expertise but also sets a new standard for urological treatments in the region.
Hospital records indicate that between July 2024 and January 2025, the Urology and Nephrology Department handled 2,822 outpatient visits, with 23 patients undergoing traditional surgical procedures. During this six-month period, the hospital served a total of 153,252 patients. With the introduction of OIU surgery, residents of Gwadar and surrounding areas will now have access to advanced urological treatments.
Endourology offers a groundbreaking approach to treating conditions such as kidney stones, prostate enlargement, bladder tumors, and urinary tract obstructions. By employing endoscopic techniques, surgeons can perform complex procedures through small incisions, resulting in less pain, faster recovery, and a lower risk of complications.
Highlighting the significance of this development, a hospital statement emphasized, “This achievement is not just a milestone for our institution but a historic moment for the entire region. The introduction of Endourology reaffirms our commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the people of Gwadar and its neighboring areas.”
Furthermore, the hospital continued its dedication to patient welfare by offering free medicines and meals to admitted patients during this period, reinforcing its commitment to comprehensive and accessible healthcare.
