Pakistan’s national oil company signs agreement with Chinese firm at the 8th Silk Road International Exposition in Xi’an.
On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCDC), a leading company in China’s drilling and upstream oil services. The agreement is focused on exploring Pakistan’s shale and tight gas resources to meet the country’s energy demands through domestic solutions.
OGDCL’s executive director of Production, Mumtaz Ali Soomro, and CCDC’s vice president, Zhang Zhidong, signed the MoU at the 8th Silk Road International Exposition and Investment and Trade Forum for East-West Cooperation in Xi’an, according to a press release.
China extended a special invitation to Pakistan to participate in the event as the Country of Honor. Key attendees at the signing ceremony included Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division), Dr. Musadik Malik, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi.
During the ceremony, Minister Musadik Malik expressed his appreciation to China for inviting Pakistan as the Country of Honor and emphasized that the partnership would bolster collaboration in the energy sector, benefiting both nations.
