Pakistan’s medical exports to China surge highlighting a positive sign for the country’s healthcare manufacturing industry.
Pakistan’s exports of medical and surgical instruments to China have witnessed a remarkable increase in the first ten months of 2024, signaling a positive development for the country’s healthcare manufacturing industry.
Data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) indicates that the export value of these instruments rose by 5.189% compared to the same period in 2023. This growth is driven by China’s rising demand for high-quality medical devices and Pakistan’s reputation for producing reliable and cost-effective healthcare products.
Ghulam Qadir, Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing, revealed that Pakistan exported over $10.19 million worth of medical and surgical instruments to China between January and October 2024. This achievement reflects Pakistani manufacturers’ commitment to adhering to international quality standards and fostering robust trade ties with China, the world’s second-largest medical equipment market.
“Pakistan’s exports of medical and veterinary instruments and appliances reached $6.544 million in the first ten months of 2024, up from $6.387 million during the same period last year, reflecting a 2.47% increase,” Qadir stated. “Similarly, exports of dental instruments and appliances rose to $3.158 million, a 7.9% increase compared to $2.926 million in 2023.”
Industry analysts attribute this upward trend to China’s expanding healthcare sector and significant investments in modernizing medical infrastructure. The country’s growing aging population and demand for advanced healthcare services have driven the need for surgical tools, diagnostic equipment, and protective devices. Pakistan, with its competitive manufacturing capabilities, is well-positioned to meet this demand.
“Pakistan’s robust medical instrument manufacturing industry has earned global trust, and this rise in exports to China highlights that confidence,” Qadir added. “As China’s healthcare industry continues to grow, we anticipate even greater opportunities for Pakistani exports in the coming years.”
