Pakistan’s Meat exports to China hit $3.3million from Jan-Sep 2024 as the preference in the Chinese consumer market has increased.
Pakistan’s meat exports to China amounted to $3.37 million between January and September 2024, as per data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
Ghulam Qadir, Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, highlighted that Chinese consumers are becoming more adventurous in their food choices, with a growing preference for high-quality meat from Pakistan. Moreover, Pakistan’s rich heritage in beef and mutton production complements Chinese consumer preferences. This surge in demand aligns with China’s broader objective of diversifying its meat sources to enhance food security.
Qadir attributed this success to a combination of hard work and strategic planning. The Pakistani government has actively supported meat exports through favorable policies, while exporters have successfully met China’s stringent quality and safety standards, proving their competitiveness on the global stage.
Mongolia and Pakistan are leading exporters of boiled meat to China, with Pakistan shipping 694 tons valued at $3.37 million during this period, while Mongolia exported 2,410 tons worth $10.24 million. It’s noteworthy that the GACC allowed Pakistani companies to export boiled meat to China last year, and currently, three Pakistani companies are registered for this purpose.
