BEIJING, Apr. 17 – A delegation from Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center was invited to visit Islamabad in April by Pakistan’s National Food Security & Research Division. Federal Minister Kausar Abdullah Malik met with the delegation.

Jingwa Center is a private non-profit organization jointly initiated by China Agricultural University, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Beijing Capital Agribusiness Group, New Hope Group, and Jingdong Group.

During the meeting, Minister Kausar stated that China and Pakistan are “iron brothers,” and Pakistan highly appreciates and actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative. “Cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture is becoming more profound and intimate. China’s great achievements and rich experience will provide valuable insights and strong support for the development of Pakistan’s agriculture,” he said.

Kausar noted that at present, we aim to continuously strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of water-saving irrigation, facility planting, agricultural product processing, cold chain logistics, scientific and technological training, and economic and trade exchanges. “At the same time, we hope to accelerate the development and implementation of relevant trade policies between the two countries in areas such as livestock import and export, construction of epidemic-free zones, and exchange of germplasm resources,” Kausar added.

Kausar emphasized the positive impact of NGOs like Jingwa Center in enhancing long-term agricultural cooperation between the two countries, facilitating communication and exchanges between the governments, and fostering agricultural scientific and technological innovation and exchanges between the two countries.

There are many differences in the agricultural industry chains between China and Pakistan, which also represent significant cooperation opportunities and development potential. As an NGO, Jingwa Center is willing to leverage its own advantages and act as a bridge and link between the governments, research institutions, and enterprises of the two countries, the delegation noted.

Jingwa Center will actively establish a long-term working mechanism with the relevant departments of agriculture in Pakistan. The center will strive to promote exchanges between scientific research institutions, accelerate the transformation of agricultural scientific and technological achievements to benefit the industrial development of both countries. Additionally, it will work towards promoting entrepreneurial exchanges, enhancing economic and trade interactions, and boosting industrial development momentum, according to leader of the delegation.
