Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is currently on a visit to Islamabad, inaugurated the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Corner at the library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Saturday.
In his address, Chinese VFM Weidong highlighted the special importance China attaches to Pakistan in its foreign policy, emphasising the deep-rooted ties between the two nations as “iron brothers” and trusted friends, according to a MoFA statement.
He expressed China’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with Pakistan and acknowledged Pakistan’s unwavering support on core issues for China.
Weidong expressed China’s continuous support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and commitment to deepening cooperation to facilitate Pakistan’s economic development, progress, and prosperity.
The Chinese Vice Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s role as a vital partner and stressed China’s dedication to contributing to the well-being of the Pakistani people.
In response, Foreign Secretary Qazi welcomed Weidong to Pakistan and underscored the robust and enduring nature of the Pakistan-China friendship.
He highlighted the comprehensive support that the friendship enjoys at political, institutional, and public levels in Pakistan.
Emphasising the importance of the bilateral friendship for regional peace and stability, Foreign Secretary Qazi expressed Pakistan’s readiness to further expand and strengthen cooperation in all areas.
