Pakistan and Türkiye have reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen and expand their long-standing, brotherly ties and multifaceted cooperation.
This reaffirmation came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Saturday, held on the sidelines of the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
Both leaders strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing assaults, denouncing them as blatant violations of fundamental international legal norms.
They reiterated their support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter. They also agreed to continue working together through diplomatic channels to help ease regional tensions.
The two leaders called on the international community to take meaningful steps toward restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.
They also emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and for the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians suffering under siege.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed warm regards from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to President Erdogan and highlighted the deep value Pakistan places on its historic and strategic relationship with Türkiye.
He also congratulated President Erdogan on receiving an award from the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, recognizing his leadership and the successful hosting of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ session.
The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
