Pakistan to boost agri exports; 1,000 graduates to be sent to China to modernise Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
The government has reiterated its dedication to enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural exports, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launching a major initiative to upgrade the skills of the nation’s agricultural workforce.
During the second World Food and Agriculture Exhibition in Karachi, the prime minister announced a government-funded program to send 1,000 agriculture graduates to China for advanced training. This initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s agricultural sector and boost export potential.
Despite a $3 billion rise in rice and other agricultural exports last year, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that this growth remains insufficient. He called for value addition and effective strategies to further elevate Pakistan’s agricultural exports.
The Prime Minister noted Pakistan’s untapped potential and stressed the importance of leveraging these resources to fuel economic growth and strengthen the agricultural sector.
Additionally, as part of ongoing efforts to improve agricultural infrastructure, he announced plans to convert 18,000 tubewells in Balochistan to solar energy. This initiative aims to support sustainable farming, lower operational costs, and promote eco-friendly practices in the region.
