Pakistan firmly supports Iran’s inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter in response to Israel’s blatant and unprovoked acts of aggression.
This stance was articulated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar during his address at the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Istanbul on Saturday night.
He strongly condemned Israel’s actions against Iran, warning that such provocations pose serious threats to both regional and global peace and security.
Dar expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions, growing instability, and worsening humanitarian conditions across the Middle East.
He noted that Israel’s aggression toward Iran is not an isolated occurrence but part of a dangerous and sustained pattern of militarism displayed by Israel throughout the region.
He added that these hostilities signify a serious escalation, threatening peace and stability far beyond the Middle East.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, Dar called for an immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire, the provision of unrestricted humanitarian aid, and accountability for Israeli war crimes.
He stressed that durable peace in the region hinges on recognizing the Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of a viable, sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Speaking on recent hostilities between Pakistan and India, Dar condemned India’s unprovoked military aggression, saying Pakistan was compelled to exercise its right to self-defense. By the grace of Allah, Pakistan successfully repelled the attack, shooting down six Indian fighter jets and heavily damaging multiple military sites.
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, he reiterated Pakistan’s firm position that it will not allow India to block water supplies to its people, declaring any such move as tantamount to an act of war.
On the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Dar emphasized that the unresolved conflict remains the central source of instability in South Asia and a dangerous nuclear flashpoint.
He called for a renewed international push, under the UN’s guidance, for a just, lasting, and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Dar urged the OIC to continue condemning Indian aggression, to implement the OIC Action Plan on Jammu and Kashmir, and to actively support a just solution to the longstanding dispute.
