Pakistan, Russia hold Arabian Monsoon-VI Exercise to strengthen bilateral naval ties and enhance regional maritime security.
The Pakistani and Russian navies conducted a joint naval exercise, “Arabian Monsoon-VI,” in the North Arabian Sea on Wednesday. The exercise aimed to strengthen maritime security, improve coordination, and enhance interoperability between the two naval forces, according to a statement from the Pakistan Navy.
The Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy stated that various naval assets participated in the exercise, including a Destroyer, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, a Fast Attack Craft (Missile), a Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and a UAV, alongside ships from the Russian Federation Navy.
The drill featured multiple maritime warfare serials and a coordinated patrol, focusing on enhancing the operational compatibility of both navies. Additionally, the Pakistan Air Force fighter jets also participated in the exercise.
During their visit, Russian naval delegates met with Pakistan Navy officials and paid tribute to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder, by laying a floral wreath at his mausoleum.
The Pakistan Navy emphasized that such joint maritime exercises with key naval forces reflect its commitment to ensuring maritime security and promoting regional stability.
On March 13, a Russian naval flotilla arrived at Karachi’s port, where both sides engaged in cross-ship visits, harbor drills, and strategic discussions. The Pakistan Navy regularly conducts joint exercises with allies and friendly nations to strengthen cooperation, support regional peace, and combat threats such as piracy, drug trafficking, and other illicit maritime activities.
