Pakistan remains committed to sustainable environment, Zardari highlighted on World Environment Day.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized on Thursday his country’s dedication to environmental protection and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s limited resources, he noted that the country is actively addressing environmental challenges and the effects of climate change, on occasion of World Environment Day.
Zardari highlighted government efforts to mobilize climate finance by blending national initiatives with private sector investment and international assistance, in line with Pakistan’s wider economic transformation goals.
He pointed out that, with backing from global financial institutions, Pakistan is implementing reforms including carbon levies, promotion of electric vehicles, and enhancements in energy efficiency.
The president also mentioned various programs targeting flood resilience, clean energy transitions, sustainable farming, air quality improvement, and green financing that have been launched.
Finally, Zardari called on citizens, organizations, and government bodies to collaborate for a cleaner, greener Pakistan, emphasizing the reduction of single-use plastics, increased afforestation, waste recycling, and support for nature-protecting policies.
