Pakistan National Day celebrated in Shanghai Consulate General

Pakistan National Day celebrated in Shanghai Consulate General highlighted the deep-rooted and enduring relations between China and Pakistan.

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai organized a reception on March 23 to celebrate Pakistan National Day, attended by members of the Pakistani expatriate community and representatives from Chinese businesses.

In his address, Consul General Shehzad Ahmad Khan highlighted the historical importance of the day, marking the adoption of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, which laid the groundwork for Pakistan’s creation.

Khan also underscored the deep and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, often described as being “higher than mountains, deeper than oceans, and sweeter than honey.” He pointed to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a key initiative under the Belt and Road framework, as a symbol of strong bilateral cooperation that has significantly transformed Pakistan’s infrastructure and energy sectors.

Discussing Shanghai’s role in advancing bilateral relations, Khan identified vast opportunities in trade, technology, and cultural collaboration. He emphasized Shanghai’s status as a global innovation and business hub, presenting new avenues for strengthening Pakistan-China ties.

The Consul General commended the contributions of the Pakistani community in Shanghai, recognizing their role in enhancing the city’s cultural and economic landscape.

The event also highlighted the growing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, as well as the increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Pakistan to explore its rich history, culture, and scenic beauty.

Khan reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the shared vision of the Pakistani and Chinese leaderships by fostering strategic trust, deepening cooperation across various sectors, and strengthening the China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era.
