Pakistan keen to learn from China’s innovation as Khalil Hashmi shed light on cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
The 31st Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Expo, themed “New Quality Productive Forces: A New Future for Agriculture,” began on October 25 in Yangling, Shaanxi, and will continue for five days.
Pakistan, this year’s featured guest country, inaugurated its pavilion on Friday morning. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, and Shaanxi’s Vice Governor, Dou Jingli, jointly led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi noted, “During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Yangling in June, we held in-depth discussions on collaborative opportunities between Pakistan’s agencies and various sectors in Yangling and Shaanxi province.”
He further stated, “Since then, all involved parties have actively pursued these objectives. Our participation in the 31st Agricultural High-Tech Expo highlights the ongoing enhancement of our bilateral cooperation.”
He emphasized the importance of agriculture to Pakistan’s economy, contributing over 20% of GDP and employing around 40% of the workforce. Through this expo, Pakistan aims to learn from the Yangling Demonstration Zone and Shaanxi province in areas such as agricultural innovation, high-tech applications, and high-yield seed cultivation. This event offers an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange with experts.
To encourage collaboration, the Pakistan pavilion includes a special exhibit area featuring Chinese companies with significant agricultural investments and developments in Pakistan. This exhibit fosters discussions between company representatives, potential partners, and agricultural experts.
