Pakistan imports from China clocks in at $1.5bn with other states like UAE, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia following.
China remained Pakistan’s top source of imports in July 2024, followed by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.
State Bank of Pakistan data shows that imports from China surged by 53.5% to $1.48 billion, compared to $962.98 million in the same month last year. The UAE followed with imports rising by 48.2% to $480.97 million. Imports from Saudi Arabia amounted to $358.71 million, up by 6.1%, while those from Indonesia reached $248.99 million, an increase of 17.1% year-on-year.
Other notable imports include $247.37 million from Qatar, a 33.6% rise, and $223.5 million from Kuwait, which saw a massive 322.5% increase. Imports from the U.S. also grew by 6.1% to $185.05 million.
On a monthly basis, imports from China increased by 8.9%, while imports from the UAE and Saudi Arabia saw declines of 14.6% and 9.5% respectively.
