ISLAMABAD: Pakistan FO ‘surprised’ by Chinese envoy’s remarks stating that they do not align by diplomatic norms.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed surprise at the recent remarks by the Chinese Ambassador, noting they did not align with the traditional diplomatic norms shared by Pakistan and China.
“We are reinforcing the protocol for visits by ambassadors or groups of ambassadors to other cities,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated during a briefing.
The spokesperson highlighted that foreign ambassadors are welcomed as honored guests and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to providing them with full security.
In a seminar in Islamabad on Tuesday, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong noted that two recent terror attacks within six months were unacceptable, calling for a strong response against anti-China terrorist groups.
He underscored that ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals in Pakistan remains China’s primary concern and a key factor in the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Ambassador Jiang expressed China’s hope for Pakistan to further enhance security for Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects, urging the country to punish those responsible and take firm action against all anti-China terrorist groups.
