Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has emphasized the transformative potential for Pakistan’s economy through active participation in the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In an interview with CGTN, he expressed optimism about Pakistan becoming a significant partner in the BRI initiative.
Kakar highlighted the positive impact of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) early harvest program, addressing energy deficiencies and contributing 8000 MW to the national grid. He anticipates further advancements in job creation, livelihoods, and infrastructure during the second phase of CPEC, particularly in Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
Kakar emphasized the unprecedented connectivity facilitated by BRI, fostering global and cultural links. Reflecting on his visit to Xinjiang, he stressed the importance of tourism development in the region and highlighted China’s role as a reliable ally in security, politics, and economics.
The prime minister underscored the need for enhanced cultural exchanges, people-to-people interactions, tourism, and collaboration between media houses of both nations.
