Pakistan is focusing on strengthening ties with Henan, as highlighted at the 2nd ‘Belt and Road’ (Henan) International Agriculture Corporation Expo. Captain (retired) Muhammad Mahmood, Federal Secretary for National Food Security and Research, expressed the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in fostering trade, particularly in the agricultural products and livestock sector, during his address at the expo.
Mahmood emphasized the positive impact of CPEC on exports, citing the notable increase in sesame seeds, seafood, rice, milk, and meat shipments. He lauded CPEC for creating employment opportunities, improving electricity supply, and enhancing regional connectivity in Pakistan.
Highlighting the crucial role of agriculture and livestock in Pakistan’s economy, Mahmood mentioned collaborative projects with China, including buffalo breed improvement and genetic enhancement in agricultural seeds. He stressed the potential for greater benefits through closer cooperation between the two countries.
At the Henan Expo, Masoud Anwar, Secretary Livestock Punjab, showcased the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab’s achievements and opportunities, aiming to attract investors and international interest in Pakistan’s thriving livestock sector. During a meeting with Wang Kai, the Governor of Henan province, Pakistani officials discussed promoting livestock trade and exports. Masoud stated that Pakistan has committed to increasing exports of meat and milk products to China, viewing international trade as a crucial component in supporting the country’s economy.
