An agreement on cooperation in academic research was jointly signed by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Pakistan and Huaqiao University (HQU), China last week.
According to HQU, under the agreement, both sides will carry out exchanges and cooperation in academic research, student exchanges, teaching and research staff exchanges, and joint academic conferences.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor of MUET said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is of great significance to furthering the partnership between China and Pakistan. He hoped the two universities will cooperate fully in talent training for more high-quality and high-level local application-oriented personnel for Pakistan.
Wang Lixia, Vice President of HQU, pointed out on the occasion that CPEC has become a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with energy as a key area for cooperation.
“The signing of the agreement would allow the two universities to work together to train Pakistani talents in energy technology and make due contributions to deepening the cooperation,” she added.
The signing ceremony was held in video form. Representatives from both universities were present.
